Department of Community Medicine /Preventive & Social Medicine, Outreach activities Inclusive

Overview

Department runs general outpatient which serves as linkage between peripheral health activities and hospital. It works as replica of primary health centre in hospital, reduces workload of specialists by filtering out patients who require specialist care.

Besides serving as appropriate referral, GOPD provides treatment for minor illnesses. It runs counselling, guidance cell, immunization clinic, DOTS and microscopy centre. Preventive Health Check Community outreach activities with domiciliary / home health care, Adult & Paediatric Vaccination / Immunisation are all being managed by the teams.

Hospital has developed Rural Health Training Centres, Urban Health Centre which work in close collaboration with District Health System. Preventive, Promotive & Curative activities are carried out in Rural Health Training Centre and Urban Health Training Centre. Apart from work at community rural health, centres teams work in close collaboration with Primary Health Centre, and support these centres in meeting community health needs. In turn, government health facilities provide settings for learning and appropriate referral.

At Urban Health Centre, OPD services are provided through a general out-patient department. For mission to ensure "Health for All", through programs, vision is turning into reality healthier, stronger, and more aware community.

With belief that healthcare extends far beyond walls of facility Community Outreach Activities (COA), are backbone of services. Community Health Outreach Program is designed to bring essential medical services, health education, and preventive care directly to underserved populations, rural and tribal communities.

Objectives are, to Improve access to healthcare for marginalized and remote populations, promote awareness about preventive health measures and provide early diagnosis and timely treatment for common and chronic illnesses non communicable diseases and strengthen community participation in healthcare planning and execution.

For achieving this Mobile Health Camps, Health Education & Awareness Drives School Health Programs Maternal & Child Health Support Chronic Disease NCD Screening are conducted in collaboration with local civil societies and government agencies to ensure continuity of care and linkage to state health programs.
