Department of Paediatrics, Neonatology inclusive

Overview

Our mission is to protect, promote, support, and restore the health of newborns, infants, children, and young adolescents. With a strong commitment to exceptional care, counseling, and advocacy, we ensure a comprehensive focus on health and well-being through specialized NICU and PICU facilities, immunization, growth monitoring, and developmental surveillance.

Experts provide excellent clinical care with innovative, cutting-edge technology, including therapeutic hypothermia, mechanical ventilation, continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy, obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) management, and surfactant therapy with 24x7 neonatal resuscitation and emergency care. Research activities bring science from bench to bedside with a thrust in neonatal sepsis and perinatal asphyxia—the biggest killers of tiny toddlers—and early interventions for high-risk neonates with health and compassion.

In-house Paediatric Surgery is available to improve the quality of life for children with surgical needs, from common surgeries to advanced neonatal and thoracic interventions. The department offers in-house expert solutions for a wide spectrum of conditions. It also manages paediatric urology, gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary disorders, and solid tumours, with in-house services of Neurology, Psychiatry, Pulmonology, Nephrology, Cardiology, Genetic Counselling, Gastroenterology, Endocrinology, and HIV testing and therapy. A strong focus is maintained on minimally invasive techniques like laparoscopy, thoracoscopy, bronchoscopy, and cystoscopy, which enhance recovery and comfort. The team collaborates closely with experts to deliver holistic and coordinated treatment.

It offers comprehensive, affordable, and internationally benchmarked care for critically ill and preterm newborns. Every baby receives life-saving support with compassion and precision. From life-saving ventilator support and nitric oxide therapy to functional echocardiography, the department provides a full spectrum of neonatal interventions. The team monitors each baby’s growth, nutrition, and development, and provides post-discharge follow-up, especially for vulnerable preterm and low birth weight babies.
